Caring for Your New Dentures
Daily Care
Rinse After Eating: After every meal, remove your dentures and rinse them thoroughly to remove any food debris.
Brush Daily: Use a soft-bristled brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner (or mild hand soap) to gently brush all surfaces of your dentures. This removes plaque and bacteria. DO NOT use regular toothpaste, as it can be too abrasive and scratch the denture.
Rinse Again: Rinse your dentures one more time to wash away any remaining cleaner.
Handling and Storage
Handle with Care: When cleaning or handling your dentures, hold them over a sink filled with water or a folded towel to prevent breakage if you drop them.
Keep Them Moist: Dentures must be kept moist to maintain their shape. When you are not wearing them, store them in a denture-soaking solution or plain water.
Remove Them at Night: Taking your dentures out at night gives your gums a chance to rest and helps to prevent irritation.
Important Reminders
DO NOT use hot water to clean your dentures, as this can permanently warp the material.
AVOID harsh cleaning agents, bleach, or other household cleaners, as they can damage the dentures and irritate your mouth.
Schedule Regular Visits: Even with dentures, it is essential to visit Smile Builder Dental for regular checkups. We will inspect the fit of your dentures, check your oral health, and screen for any issues.
